You may be seeing national headlines about an exceedingly rare cancer, Breast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), associated with breast implants. Based on the current data, 99.9997% of women with implants will never be affected. Unless you have unexplained swelling of your breast, fluid around your implant years after your surgery, or a breast mass, simply continue your routine follow ups, and stay well-informed from your plastic surgeon, the ASPS, and the FDA.
